Poppy Seed Challenge

Lisa Johnson has a challenge on her blog to create a card using "3 seeds". This week the seeds were light yellow, a flower image, and any kind of "Bling". Of course I think my favorite flower image that I currently own is from the Life set by Papertrey ink and it also happens to be the same one she uses....... you know what they say about great minds :) I think that the sentiment that I chose to go along with the card before it was finished really ended up being perfect for me to read again after the finished product. As you can see the sewing is not perfect and at one point I went off the page I think altogether but that was a "moment" little Ava was under my feet and playing with the cords for the sewing machine and it was just so darn cute so who cares if I went off the page ..... and then there is the stamping where it is a bit blurry ...... Emma was helping me finish so she could make something for her daddy ........ again another moment. I am able to create with my kiddies either helping me or just being there. Do not get me wrong I do love to have time to do this where I can concentrate but for tonight ........ it was a moment in life where everything was perfect!!!

Betsey is my "paper and scissors" superhero.......

This month the Blog Hop on PTI is all about giving some love to the DT. So here I am giving Betsey some L-O-V-E!!! When I saw the focus for this month I knew who was going to be my go to girl. Every time I see something in a magazine and think "oh I love that card" ........ "oh how cute is that" ...... "oh that is so creative" there is Betsey's name. The same holds true for my card tonight. When I saw this in the Card Creations magazine I thought oh I love that card and I am going to try it for my niece's birthday. Her card is on page 31.

Here is my take on Betsey's card. For outside of the card I cut some PTI card stock to fit the card inside added a few eyelets and tied it up with a nice bright ribbon. The inside and out are stamped with Polka Dot basics in Pure Poppy to complete the package.

I found out through the PTI MB that she used the wildcard cartridge to create this star card but I did not have that so I made it in Design Studio and my boyfriend George is the cartridge I used. I used Star Prints and Shrinky Dinks for the stars that are tied on at the top ...... I colored them with my silver and gold leafing pens. And I would like to add that this was my "FIRST" sewing attempt on paper. YIKES!! I did take sewing in high school and a ton of things came back to me but I am very rusty~~ I think I still have some of the shirts I made in that class...... scary!!!

On the inside I found a font that I liked for the Happy Birthday and followed Betsey's sewing instructions. And again used Heart Prints and Polka Dot Basics on the Vintage Cream card stock. I had a great time making this card and learned a lot about sewing on paper. The kids helped with the shrinky dinks and Emma was in charge of clicking on the cut button for Design Studio and Anton loaded and unloaded the paper ....... I love when there is something for them to do.......they love to help!! And of course one more shout out to Betsey ~~ YOU ROCK GIRL!!!! Thank you for inspiring me all the time, you truly are amazing at what you do!!!

Compose a card with Becky

This week onBecky's Blogthe challenge photo is the best. I am an apron freak, I love the idea of them but then I do not want to wear them because I am afraid I will get them dirty. I saw this post on Betsey's Blogand I loved the apron on a card and then remembered I had this poem so it seemed like the perfect match. I think everything except for color is off but that is pretty much me ...... just a wee bit off the path :) Not sure what is up with the photo ....... it looks a bit off to me but the light today is more terrible then usual with the gross weather we are having in the NE. Have a great day!!!

Paper Flower Card

Here is a birthday card that I made for SIL. My 2nd sewing card ........ I need to practice on sewing especially since I basically have to do this in the dark ...... the lighting in this house is horrible ....... one day I will have a ton of windows!!! So when you add light colored paper, little light and being blond all together you can have issues!!! I am sure a little practice will help me. The paper flower is a ton of dahlia's cut with my spellbinders and tissue paper. I folded them in 1/8th's and kept layering until there was enough "poof" for me. The kraft card stock was stamped with the Waltzing Mouse stamp and a random flourish. The inside will be the best once I give Emma the card to do her "work" I am sure it will be her and a unicorn both smiling....... ohhhh I love that girl!!! Thanks for looking and have a great evening...........

Compose a card with Becky and yummies for the kiddies

So this weeks challenge on Becky's Blog looks like what I want my dining room to look like in the new house ..... green is my FAVORITE color so this was a good one for me but I have to say this much black ink and Anton stealing my stuff and running away can get a bit stressful and typically I end up with ink all over me and today was no different ...... he is a little rat but he makes me LOL all day long so I give him a pass!!! This is for a great friend of ours and her birthday is on St. Patrick's Day so it is perfect and it is not so typical of the day!!!

I did the inside of the card as well since I had a black background and I will write her a note to go inside. I stink at cutting out stamped images but I have made friends with that fact ...... and hello I need a new blade on my paper trimmer ....... good lord look at those rough edges.........

This is a breakfast treat I made for the kiddies. I have always wanted to try my hand at homemade cinnamon buns ...... YIKES they were out of this world. I wish I had visitors though........ it only makes 8 but I only have 3 kiddies .......... they keep talking to me !!!!

Thanks for looking

Papertrey Pals Challenge and VD for my honey!!!

Liz challenged us to use stitching this time on our VD project. This was a real challenge since my new mini sew is still in the box because I have not had a minute to get it out. My card for this challenge was inspired when I saw a card posted by Erin here. As soon as I saw this set by Hero Arts I knew it would be mine. This is really a day we celebrate since Curt did POP the question on top of the Empire State Building..... greatest night ever!!! If you meld "An Affair to Remember" with "Serendipity" then you pretty much have a movie about us.

The inside of the card is a bit hard to see but the "scrabble" word at the bottom is "Serendipity" ....... NERD ALERT!!! :)

And here is the whole package for my honey. A crazy yummy chocolate flourless torte with fresh cream and raspberries..... this is the part of the day when the kids do not talk or say they do not like it .........

One day I should document our story on here ....... I can say that I was leaving NYC never to return ....... VW packed and I was heading for the bridge...... bittersweet but I had to leave it all behind. As I am singing loud and probably pretty bad in the passing lane I feel like someone is looking at me...... YEP it was Curt I had not seen him in well over a year. And there he was driving next to me with his face pressed against the car window. I remember thinking " oh maybe he does not know it is me in this lime green beetle ...... HELLO ...... it is lime green!!!" And with that thought my phone started to ring............
