Make it Monday #2

I am posting today with a quick card for PTI Make it Monday.  The challenge this week was to use vellum for your sentiment.  I cannot believe I had time to make this because I have a house full of sick kiddies and Curt YIKES!!!   

For some reason I could not get a good focus on the vellum sentiment but IRL it is very crisp.

PTI Challenge tag with a frame

Well I needed a way to wrap a wee gift for Emma's teachers so why not enter another contest over on Nicole Heady's blog.  The photo quality is not so great because I was busy all day at my daytime job, CEO of Hallinger and Hallinger INC :)  

I used a paper bag for the gift with a swatch of dark denim fabric and some PP saddle stitch ribbon.  

Then I  put the card right on the top.  

I am thinking this will be my last challenge since I have so much to get done for

St. Valentine's Day on Monday.

Make it Monday Card #2 and CR84FN14

And for my second card for Make it Mondays I worked in another challenge, 

CR84FN 14 hosted by Mona at Cupcake Creations.  

 Here is my card for both challenges.

I used some YUMMY felt for that cupcake top and the bottom is a brown shiny paper that I scored to look like a real cupcake wrapper.  I wish I had one right now to eat ......

Make it Monday Card #1

Boy has this been a crazy week for challenges over at Papertrey Ink , they are celebrating their 4 year anniversary.  Because the prize is so FANTASTIC I thought I would give it a whirl.

LIEBE

Here is a fun little banner I made to hang over our fireplace for St. Valentine's Day.

Let me tell you I made more cuts with my CB than Disney has movies but it was a fun project and the kids and Curt LOVE IT.

Liebe is German for Love.  I kinda thought for the location and the photo

above the fireplace and my vinyl Hummel Hansel and Gretel that Liebe would be perfect.

I found and used my Cricut for the letters and then so many different dies.

  Here are some close up shots.  All the Vintage Cream was stamped in Pure Poppy and I used my tea dye for the edges.  

I went a different route this time with thread thanks to Mona  she always knows when to add the darker thread to a card and I thought for the banner tops this would be the perfect time for me to throw in some color to make it pop.... SO HAPPY I FOUND MONA!!!  Her work is amazing 

and the name of her blog makes me happy!!!

And how ADORABLE are the Valentine's.  VERY OLD SCHOOL.

I bought them from Corinna at Piddix on Etsy.  

I have them in this size and a smaller size for small cards.
I printed them on card stock and CURT cut them out :)

     

And then I took a lead from my friend Laurie who on this linked post used a paper bag for the embossed piece.  OH ..... how smart is she and me because I took her idea and ran to make the medallions for a cute layering of the vintage Valentines.  

A few clothespins and some floral wire and we are all ready for 

St. Valentine's Day!!

Larger Than Life

I was so excited when LJ designed an addition in larger sizes to the original Life set ...... I love those flowers and the sentiments in the first set are stained beyond I use them so much.  The image on my card today reminds me of Lavender, oh how I love that sweet smell!!!  And the new die for those lovely images ... LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT!!!  

I am trying to go outside my comfort zone and use some pattern paper...... I know we all have so much and we all hoard it.  This was from a 6x6 pack and I have 5 more pieces 

so I felt okay about my decision today :)

 My sassy friend Denise sent me some wrinkle ribbon and the sweet pin, it was clear and I colored it with a copic and added another crystal.

Forgive the lighting, I have been trying to do better but it was SO BEAUTIFUL here today and I took this photo in Ava's room as the sun was going down.  I think the sun kissed my face today!!

I sat in the back in a chair and gave the kiddies different obstacle courses to complete.  It is 730 pm here and 2 out of 3 are passed out and The other one is watching old Bugs Bunny with the 1,000 mile stare going..... mission accomplished!!

 I hope we are closing on our house in NY this week, I have no idea how Curt will get there with all the snow on the ground there and NO PARKING in the city

Miss You!!

I am totally missing my family that I worked for in NY.  I  call them my family because really that is how I feel about them, boy do I love them!!!  On a day when it was blah outside and the kids were taking naps because they were all sick, the doorbell rang and it was the postman with a package for me.  It was a box of homemade espresso truffles and a card.  I laughed at the card because it was one I had made and given in a package of cards as a gift.  When I gave them to her she said that she did not like anyone enough to give them one of the cards.  Her youngest daughter made the truffles and wrote the card about how she was thinking of me and they missed me.... oh lord I am such a wimp, I am all weepy writing this.  I guess this is good training for when my kiddies go away to college, or not maybe I will go with them to make sure they all know how to tap a keg properly and are drinking the right beer........ JK ....... I think.  So anyway, I baked for them ALL THE TIME and I am going to send them some treats in the mail next week so I thought I would make a card to put in the box.

 The felt hearts kinda fade into the paper in this photo but not IRL.  Ava had other plans then me sewing on a card, like just holding the foot pedal down or stepping on my foot ......... she really is NUTS!!!

Here is a close up of the impression plate ...... I think this is my favorite one!!!

And just a quick photo of Ava to prove she is NUTS..... her hair was so cute for about 10 seconds 

She is all ME :)
