Papertrey Pals

Our challenge over on Papertrey Pals this time was brought to us by Liz M. Basically we had to build whatever we were creating by using only one embellishment. I am typically TRY to follow the guidelines ..... this time I am not sure but it could be boarder line since my flower has a few different things going on but in my mind ( no smart thoughts or comments) I figured since the leaves go with the flower that would be okay and since no flower really has the same color all the way through I had to add a button and another layer of HS for the middle part. And then I did all that hard work of cutting the leaves and they needed something so I cut another layer of leaves ..... OMG this is starting to sound like my dog ate my homework. Great challenge Liz I had to really think to get this done ......... xoxox

Did someone say BUTTONS~~~

So when I get my buttons I always look at them and think ....... Oh I like that one ..... I think I will keep that one in the bag. Well this month's "assignment" was to use buttons so I took out my floral wire and started using some of the buttons I love. Now I have them out and I can see them all the time. I am sure I do not need to list the colors because you all know them well :) The bottle is an antique milk bottle wrapped with a bit of kraft cardstock and then a bit of plum pudding ribbon and twine ........ a New Leaf button and we are all done.

A Gift

This is a project / gift that I made for a very special young lady for her 18th Birthday. She likes to cook so I thought no better time then now to get it all organized ....... she also has recipes from her Grandmother and I thought she might like to write them down and not take the risk of damaging the original...... that is what I do with recipes that Curt's mom wrote for me. She is also makes jewelry so the journal is for her to make sketches or whatever she likes.

The Egg Box is covered with a handmade paper that I just love!!! I sealed the box so if it is in the kitchen and the counter gets wet then it will survive!!! The box lid is a very tight fit so I covered only up to the seam and then stippled the top of the box w/ multiple layers of different colors so it would have the same feel as the paper, you cannot see this in the photo ........ oops forgot that photo. The burlap on the top was hand stitched with floss to dark chocolate card stock.

I stamped about 60 recipe cards and then gave her some recipes also to to put in the box. The flower on the front was cut out of a dictionary using words that describe her ....... amazing beautiful talented smart funny.

The inside dividers I used different colors and stamps so it was reflective of who she is and then on 2 of them I used the full dictionary definition. I life how the dividers came out........ not your typical recipe box.

Inside of journal

This is the outside of the journal in the same paper but you can really see it better here and for the journal it is not sealed so this is true look of the paper. Very simple but again reflective of the person I was making it for and for me I did not want to cover up the paper ...... LOVE IT~~

And here is the total gift ...... the card is simple but I do love how it turned out. The sentiment was computer generated on my mac and it printed perfectly on the card stock and the color matched the enchanted evening ribbon perfectly.

I love doing big projects ........ Thanks for looking!!!

A few cards

My goodness the rain does not seem to want to stop here in NY today. But my glass is half full so I will say that 1..... it could be snow 2. we need a good rain to wash all the winter snow grim away from the sidewalks and roads and 3. the rain will do wonders for our beautiful garden that is waiting to bloom with the help of Curt's uber green thumb ...... he makes it so beautiful and he has mastered our grass not having weeds ....... German engineering :)

I have a few cards to post today ...... the first card I wanted to make a few Mother's Day's cards and I still had my Life set out from Lisa's challenge so that worked perfectly!!!

This card I used Out on a Limb and I masked the sentiment from Men of Life

These are all examples of sets that I made for my sister to add into a baby gift. I love that bootie stamp ...... this is the stamp that my friend used to make baby cards when I had Emma ........ I loved it so much that I bought it. The "Thank you very much" sentiment is from Hero I think and yes that is how the stamp is laid out ....... it does not look like that because I have had too many glasses of wine~~

Compose a card with Becky

Becky has a challenge on her blog this week using Enchanted Evening, White embossing powder, and Soft stone. I was totally out this week but I used my Girl Scout training from many years ago and improvised. I had to add a layer because all I had was clear embossing powder but I did have denim ..... I did not have Enchanted Evening paper so I used SU Not Quite Navy but I did have EE Twill ribbon ..... YIKES it was suppose to be satin. I did not have the Soft stone either so I used a nice stone color paper from not sure where but it has a bit of sheen..... it is very nice paper. So here is my challenge this week ....... the challenges are helping me diet too ~bonus~ and now all of NYC will have a card made by me :) Have a great day!!!

Spring is the in air for Papertrey ink

This is a challenge for the Sr. DT at PTI to create something Spring like with their favorite color combination. I went with the color palette from Lisa Johnson. You will find her card HERE.In her post she talks about Cherry Blossoms ...... one of the most beautiful visions of spring. Her colors were also my choice because I started pilates today and the focus is "core" so for me vintage cream and kraft are "core" in my crafting. Here is my take on the color palette and a photo of one of our Cherry Blossom braches. Have a great day!!!

Of course I had to add some kind of green w/ a Spring theme and my favorite color:)

I am still working on sewing......... not sure what I was thinking. My lighting stinks and I was working with 2 light colors......

And here is our Cherry tree ......... I love this tree so much!!!
